Picture

​Jayne Cole (she/her) earned her PhD in the History of Art and Architecture at the University of Oregon. She specializes in contemporary Chinese art in a transnational context. Her research interests include urban-oriented contemporary art history, global contemporary art methodologies, digital learning, and art historical pedagogy. 

Jayne has taught a number of courses in art history at the University of Oregon and the Hangzhou Academy of Art. She earned an advanced certificate of completion through UO's Graduate Teaching Initiative. She was nominated by her department for the Graduate Teaching Excellence Award in 2020. 

Jayne has a wide-range of museum and gallery experience. She held positions at the Shanghai Museum, the Walker Art Center, and Groveland Gallery, among other venues. 

Before attending UO, Jayne earned her MA in Art History at the University of St. Thomas (MN) and her BA in International Studies at Luther College. 

Jayne lives in Brooklyn, NY. Outside of academia, Jayne is a competitive marathon runner. You can find her on Strava.
